From the Executive Director

Christy S. ColemanWhat an amazing year at the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation! It is with gratitude that we share and showcase the remarkable work being done at our museums—Jamestown Settlement and the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown--to educate, interpret, preserve and inspire audiences about American history. Our Annual Report acknowledges the generous support of donors and the partnership between JYF and its Board of Trustees and Directors to cultivate donors and expand funding to support programs at our museums while managing our endowments and offering invaluable guidance to museum leadership.

Enjoy exploring our new website to discover what’s new on the horizon—notably the long-awaited Reign & Rebellion special exhibition that debuts in November. For the first time, JYF presents a two-fold special exhibition—simultaneously at both museums—to showcase rare artifacts that reveal the complex stories of the legacies of the Stuart monarchy in the development of Virginia—its geography and its people. We’re grateful to the many donors who have contributed specifically to the special exhibition as well as a number of intriguing special programs that will take place in its nearly year long run.

Through our website, INSIDE JYF, and Annual Report, we share stories that demonstrate how JYF cares for its collections, reaches students and teachers, and tells inclusive perspectives of our shared history, then and now, along with highlighting the successes of employees and volunteers who make this work possible.

Many wonderful things await JYF in 2023 with a full calendar of events, including the return of the popular Director’s Series and ongoing programming related to Reign & Rebellion, new programs and initiatives, and the preparations for the Virginia American Revolution 250th Commemoration—all designed to reach exciting and new audiences.

On behalf of everyone at JYF, we offer our sincerest appreciation for the enduring support of time and resources to sustain and strengthen our world-class museums, award-winning educational programs, and dedicated staff and volunteers. We are truly grateful.
